Light Up the Lakefront

Please join us for our annual Light Up the Lakefront this October 1st, 2024 from 6-8 pm. As we do each year, to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Between Friends will gather at Ohio Street Beach to light candles in a striking visual tribute to all those affected by domestic violence. This is a free event, and no tickets are necessary. Spanish and ASL translation will be provided for all speakers.

We want to ensure that no matter the weather, we can still come together to honor those affected by domestic violence. In case of inclement weather, updates will be shared on the Between Friends website and social media channels by noon on the event day.

Even if we cannot gather on the beach, we invite you to join us from wherever you are by lighting a candle and placing it in your window as a symbol of solidarity. To make this gesture even more meaningful, we’ve created a printable flyer you can display alongside your candle, explaining why this tribute is so important.

Feel free to leave your candle in the window through the end of October, marking Domestic Violence Awareness Month. And if you’re sharing this moment on social media, don’t forget to tag us or send us your photos—we’d love to share your posts with the rest of the community!  Feel free to use these hashtags #LUTC2024 #betweenfriends #domesticviolence.

Together, whether on the lakefront or in our homes, we will shine a light for survivors and continue to raise awareness. Thank you for your support and for being part of this powerful tradition.
