On April 5th, Between Friends attended the Week of the Young Child Expo in collaboration with District 214 Community Education and the Early Childhood Grant Programs serving Palatine and Wheeling townships. The event focused on highlighting services, programs, and agencies that help individuals living in D214, which has a predominantly high Spanish-speaking population. Entertainment was also provided for the children as multiple dance groups performed traditional dances from different regions in Mexico and India.
Staff members from our Court Advocacy and Community Outreach attended the Expo on behalf of Between Friends, highlighting our services including our Teen Dating Violence prevention programming, assisted attendees with legal referrals, and provided information on how to build healthy relationships. We also had members from our Survivors for Economic Empowerment Project at our table to speak about the impact of our programs.
