Light Up The City on October 1

As we have done for almost two and a half decades, Between Friends will begin October with our Light Up The City event! On Friday, October 1, we will launch Domestic Violence Awareness Month by commemorating all those who have been affected over the past year by domestic violence.

Like many people, we’ve thought long and hard about what a safe event will look like this year. We’re eager to get back to in-person events but continue to see the importance in holding this event virtually.

So just like last year, Light Up The City 2021 will encourage Chicagoans to participate, from their own homes, in a tribute to the millions of people affected by domestic violence every year. Between Friends will stream a video program featuring stories from survivors and messages from our staff. You can watch that video on Facebook or right here — we’ll be embedding the live video in this post. We will also be organizing smaller, outdoor masked vigils for those who want to participate.
