The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has transitioned from in-person to remote screening for domestic violence cases. This means they are not seeing any survivors in person at the 555 W Harrison courthouse. Please see their temporary process, outlined here.
Right now, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office anticipates that this process will continue through May 18.
Please note:
1) This is only for criminal cases. Domestic violence survivors can still go to 555 W Harrison for civil orders of protection.
2) The state’s attorney’s office has not stopped prosecuting misdemeanor cases. They are screening these cases remotely, not in person.
